August

Another amazingly fun event that happened in August was our maternity shoot with Pink Posh. I stressed about this shoot for months, brainstorming on ideas for pictures that were unique to me and Mark and in the end we were all very pleased.

A more fun and exciting look back on August was that on this very same day we went in for our 3D ultrasound and got to see our baby girl one last time before meeting her.

Sorry about the bra shot, but I'm sure everyones seen one before. There's nothing more special than watching your baby's life in the womb for a teeny tiny moment in time.

So...August was an interesting month for us. On the 3rd I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. A type of diabetes that affects about 4% of all pregnant women and that has nothing to do with what I was or wasn't doing, but that has everything to do with how the placenta supports the baby as it grows. Hormones from the placenta help the baby develop. But these hormones also block the action of the mother's insulin in her body.
To make this boring story short, if not treated and kept under control with diet and exercise, it could lead to complications during pregnancy and later on in the mothers and baby's health. Needless to say, I am borderline OCD and was VERY strict on myself. Outside of pricking my fingers daily to check sugar levels, I created and every 2 to 3 hour eating schedule and followed a very detailed diet, that focused on carb, fat and protein counts. After the initial shock of hearing the news, I adjusted well to this new way of eating and one, but only one of the beautiful pay offs has been that I haven't gained a pound during pregnancy since July 2nd and I am now 2 wks from baby's due date. If that doesn't say something for healthy eating , I don't know what does and MOST IMPORTANTLY, Kinley will be healthy, because of my commitment to keeping control of this issue.

As big of a pain as my eating schedule is sometimes, this is definitely going to be priority in how Miss Kinley and I eat, to decrease our risk of developing Type 2 further down the road.

July

28 weeks pregnant. Didn't know it, but I was toasting right about then. I was also unaware of the fact that my diet and eating habits were about to go through a drastic change.

Port Aransas trip for Ed's birthday.

27 weeks

June

23 weeks

21 weeks. In Brownwood for June birthdays.

20 weeks. We had just left the ultrasound office and found out that we were having a GIRL!! We were both in disbelief.

Belize Honey/Baby Moon

About 19 weeks here. I was so excited to finally be "really showing".

Since the sole purpose of this blog is for Kinley, I don't mind that for every milestone we have more pics of the belly than anything else. Here I am roughly 18 weeks pregnant and enjoying sailing around Belize with my new hubby.

Wedding Day

Our 1st dance as a married couple and me at 16 weeks.

In just 1 week, Mark & I pulled together a wedding here in Austin at Green Pastures. It was beautiful and we had a fantastic time. Wouldn't change a thing, looking back now.

Growing Belly from the VERY beginning :)

We are 17 weeks here and this is the night before our wedding day.

Here I am 10 weeks pregnant. We still had some pretty important matters to attend to though. In the midst of celebrating Kevin's birthday and our big suprise, we were smack in the middle of planning our wedding celebrations. This particular shot was taken during my Bridal Shower. We had started the Mexico wedding journey while in Akumal in January. 60 some odd guests, with flights and rooms paid for, when out of the blue something called Swine Flu. Needless to say, our beach wedding was cancelled.

In this picture we haven't found out yet that we're expecting. It Valentines day and I am almost 4 weeks exactly. This is the last night of spirits for Jen. We figured it all out 3 days later and the doctor confirmed pregnancy 1 day after that. :)

My baby about to become a father...

This pic has special meaning to me. Just a pretty picture of a rainbow, but the particular day...extra special. Miss Kinley was in the making and only she new it. :)

The other part of the story is that Mark & I were having a blast and really enjoying each other.

These 2, Laura & Ronnie are who I lay some of the responsibility on. They are great friends now, but back in January we were meeting them for the very 1st time. We hit it off, hung out a lot and I think...Laura, who was 6/8 (?) weeks pregnant at the time, put some pregnancy hormone fluff in our water.

Okay. To start from the very beginning... This is just a shot of Snowman's 40th Birthday dinner in Akumal Mexico, where all the fun started.

Catching up

First glances into Kinley's little world and how she's growing and getting ready for us.
